Theresa Scarpati

Theresa Mary Scarpati, passed away peacefully at home on February 13, 2024 in the company of loving family members. Theresa was born May 11th, 1938 in Mount Vernon, New York to Gennaro Scarpati and Angelina Terracciano Scarpati. After attending Mount Vernon public schools and graduating salutatorian from Edison Vocational and Technical High School, she was employed by RH Donnelly in New York City as an Executive Administrative Assistant to the Vice President until her retirement in 1993. During retirement she spent most of her time doing what she liked best, taking care of her grand nephews and cooking–breast of veal and eggplant parm especially–for the family. Theresa was a gardener with the greenest of thumbs, a music lover with eclectic tastes, an avid reader favoring mysteries, and very skilled at handiwork such as beautiful knitted and crocheted items for family and friends. She was also a lifelong sports fan, having followed her beloved yet moribund Mets since their inception–and the Brooklyn Dodgers before them (she was the last person you would ever want to mistake for a Yankees fan). Theresa was predeceased by her parents, and her siblings, Andrew, Anna Marie, Michael, and Gennaro. She is survived by her sister Geraldine Scalfaro, and her many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation or services, but please keep her in your prayers.
